Speak UP!

Updated: Jun 13, 2018

Hi, my name is Susie, I’m a former glossophobic (fear or anxiety of speaking).

Did you lose your voice? Was it stolen?

I am the seventh of eight children. The sixth child, my sister Mary was a first born. She roared and protected like a lion. The eighth child, my sister Micki, walks around with jazz hands, influencing everyone she contacts. Sandwiched in between was me, the observer. In a house of eight children chaos ensued and we clung to our roar, quiet observation, and showmanship. Look at us sideways and one attacked, one shrunk, the other giggled and made faces. I felt it was safe to blend in and stay silent.

It’s time to put away the lies.

What lie do you hear? “You’re too stupid to speak.” “You aren’t relevant.” “You should keep your mouth shut.” “You’re not as important as him/her.”

Well get this!!

The Apostle Paul visited the city of Athens. He stayed a while among the philosophers. He began to speak about Jesus. The Philosophers said, “What strange ideas is this babbler trying to present?” (Acts 17:18) They tried to discredit by calling him names because they didn’t agree. Babbler? A babbler was a bird who picked up the waste and crumbs at the market. It was used as an insult; A babbler didn’t have thoughts of their own or were simple minded.

The insults of the “intelligent” Philosophers didn’t stop Paul. He knew he spoke the truth. Paul was educated. He wasn’t responsible for the one’s rejecting him. He was responsible for what he said.

God had a plan.

When Jesus appeared to Paul, He had a plan. He said to Paul,

"But rise and stand on your feet; for I have appeared to you for this purpose, to make you a minister and a witness both of the things which you have seen and of the things which I will yet reveal to you," Acts 26:16 NKJV. #canIgetawitness

Your voice is worth hearing.

It's time to speak!

Don’t let anyone steal your voice. Tell your story. The word of your testimony might be the difference in someone’s life. Speak up!

SPEAK THE TRUTH, #yourvoicematters
